This is me Asrith who is one of the victims of ultimate scams in India called Engineering. I started my career as a part-time Social Media Executive in an agency two months ago in Coimbatore. I did a three months course in Digital Marketing, but I felt that something is missing in the course, So I decided to search what was missing, as a result, I found Deepak Kanakaraju, also known as Digital Deepak. That was a Eureka Moment!!! for me.

It's difficult to start something and do it regularly, especially me honestly speaking I am a lazy bug, but this internship program is something special. Digital Deepak’s Idea was brilliant and it made me take action to master the art of Marketing. Let’s get into the topics covered by Digital Deepak on the first day of the Internship program.

The above quote was a game-changer for me.
Topic 1: Finding the Gold
Finding the gold in the sense you have to find your goal and you should know how to achieve the goal and take the wealth out there and follow that path and that's where marketing starts.
Marketing has been since humans started evolving and people started fulfilling their needs and we marketer guided people to choose the right product. Another key point is Marketers should have an understanding of human physiology. Marketing will not die because the existence of business depends on Marketing. Digital marketers should be a problem solver.
Topic 2: Economics
Economics was a new topic for me because I am a Computer Science guy. Deepak explained it in a simple manner. I got what is Economics is about and its importance to run a business. I will give you some key points which were given by Digital Deepak.
- The economy of the country goes up when the average age of the county goes up
- The economy goes down when the average age goes up above 50, household spending goes down
- Debt creates money
- Once people start paying debts recession happens
Topic 3: Communication
“Communication is the key player in business”
Communication helps in content creation, copywriting, drives sales builds confidence and helps to communicate in a professional manner. Digital Deepak explained an easy way to improve communication skills.
- Read a lot (30min a day)
- Listen to podcast
- Write a lot (500 words a day)
- Standup comedy to learn the culture
Topic 4: Integrated Digital Marketing
“Marketing+Technology =Digital Marketing”
Integrated Digital Marketing is the combination of all the assets we create in the digital world to build a brand and reputation to customers to drive sales. Content marketing is like growing a tree which is a long term investment and fruits can be reaped. Email Marketing to engage with customers, Search Engine Optimization to rank on Google & use Social Media platforms for engagement.
Topic 5: How to find Market Demand
This topic is interesting because I discovered a new tool called Answer the public. This topic about filling the gap in the market where there is demand in a particular area. Use Google auto-suggest tool to find what people are searching for and find a solution to the problem.
Topic 6: Personal Branding
“The best known will always beat the best”
I am hearing this quote for the first time. This quote remains me every time to produce more content on the Internet and Conquer the Internet with my Content. This was the concept I was coming to say “More you own on the internet, you get more from it”, now you got it, right.
Points to remember
- Show your personality and Character on Social Media.
- Do not have the fear of standing out
- Stop trying to fit in
- Publish content in a different form
Topic 7: How the Funnel Works
You may have seen the above image everywhere but never realized what it is. Normally when you think of a funnel, your brain thinks of an oil funnel, that's right it works in that way. When pouring gallons of Oil at the top of the funnel, a small amount of oil flows out at the bottom.
Similarly
Funnel is getting 100k people at the top of the funnel to get 1000 people at the bottom of the funnel.
How does it work?
- Give away free stuff
- Build trust and relation
- Get the people to the funnel
- Build brand ambassadors
Finally
So, these are the things I learned from Digital Deepak and realized that marketing skill is the key to win in digital marketing. I have summarised my experience of my first assignment in DD internship as simple as possible.
